The Author

I am an electrical engineer with interests in engineering, computer programming, politics, history, philosophy, reading, and video gaming.

My electrical engineering interests are primarily in circuit design. I write software (for work and as a hobby) in C++, and I know Java and Scheme as well.

Politically, I am an American conservative. I agree with most conservative positions, although I am not exclusively conservative and I do not automatically vote for the “conservative” candidate. I also analyze public policy issues from a strictly secular point of view since I realize that not every American shares my Christian faith.

My historical interests are primarily military history (especially the First and Second World Wars) and the Roman Republic and Empire.

I mostly read history and science fiction. I consider myself fairly well read on the First and Second World Wars, and I am familiar with the basic history of the Roman Republic and Empire. I have a long list of history books I wish to read in the future. For science fiction, I enjoy classics from authors such as Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein, and I have read many of the Star Wars books (my favorite Star Wars author is Karen Traviss, who wrote the superb Republic Commando series).

All opinions expressed in my posts and comments are solely my own and are not to be construed as the opinions of any person or organization I am affiliated with. Similarly, all opinions expressed in comments from other individuals are solely the opinions of the writer. I will only delete comments which include verbal attacks on one or more persons, so I do not necessarily agree with any opinions expressed in comments by other individuals.

These are my meditations.

    • I was just looking at the list of his Star Wars books and I’ve somehow never read any of his. I’ve heard of him, though. Are there any specific books you recommend? I should probably read the Thrawn trilogy…

      • The Thrawn Trilogy’s great. Before your read that, though, you really should read Outbound Flight.

Besides that, read Allegiance. It’s about a group of stormtroopers who sort of desert over the moral issues that come with fighting for the Empire.

        • Oh, yes, I’ve been meaning to read Outbound Flight, too. Allegiance sounds like a good book, too. I’ve added them to my reading list. Thanks for the suggestions!
